Connecting the dissident dots…”Tipping Points”

Mark Mobius is one of the most influential voices in Global investments and he is talking about when and what, NOT “if”, in terms of “tipping point” for the next global financial crisis. He’s right..
The foundations of the world economic system are so decayed and so corrupted that even a stiff breeze could potentially topple the entire structure over. Over the past couple of months a constant parade of bad economic news has come streaming in from Europe, Asia and the United States. Signs of an impending economic slowdown are everywhere. So what “tipping point” will trigger the next global economic downturn? Nobody knows for sure, but potential tipping points are all around us.
OK, this wont come as a great surprise to too many informed people but the pace, scale and potential impact WILL catch many people unprepared. As monetary policies across the globe have served to artificially re-animate markets that were “clinically dead” a huge bubble of sovereign debt has been inflated and…guess what, when the sh*t hits, the Bankers and Politicians will tell us, as they already have done, that it is a “Global problem” i.e. it’s not our fault.
This is the point I REALLY fear, because very few believed them the last time and 3 further years of fiscal mismanagement ALL FUNDED BY THE VICTIMS AND FUTURE GENERATIONS, pretty well guarantee that the policies and legitimacy of major Western powers will come in for intense scrutiny and much, much more!
The financial and social repercussions are pretty terrifying to contemplate…and this time it will be different. If you hold “high office” and have failed to heed the warnings – because THIS IS SOMETHING THAT HAS BEEN BUILDING FOR SOME CONSIDERABLE TIME – all the efforts to cling on to power and wealth at the expense of others may have been in vain!
The history of the most powerful civilizations, studies of Complexity and of biological, ecological and technological systems spelled out what would happen and even how those in power would react. We have witnessed, by the events of the “Arab Spring”, how a country appears stable, only to erupt because of “internal imbalances” that spread to connected countries, impacting every aspect of life within countries, regions and on a global scale.
SO when someone tells you that these are Global issues they are saying that “it isn’t their fault”. The truth is that the risks are self-generated. They straddle every domain, region and continent it is the fault of all of us and, as is happening in the Arab world, if a Government is failing its people or is unrepresentative of their collective viewpoint, the power of a motivated crowd is amplified by the ability to communicate and to mobilise like never before.
Honesty and transparency are they only way that current elites will retain authority in the post-critical landscape…the “good guys” should start emerging pretty soon rather than risk being tarred by the same brush as their peers.
